La Brède is a commune in the Gironde department in southwestern France. It is located about 16 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux. La Brède has a population of around 4,500 people. The village is known for its 16th-century castle, Château de La Brède, which was the birthplace of the French philosopher, writer, and moralist, Montesquieu. The village also has a church, Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, which was built in the 12th century. La Brède is surrounded by vineyards and is a part of the Graves wine-producing region. The village hosts a wine festival in June each year, which attracts many visitors. There are also several hiking and biking trails in the area, as well as a local farmers' market.
